Servers and infrastructure
Most outages are not dramatic. A disk fills, a certificate expires, a backup has been failing quietly for weeks. The work that prevents those is unglamorous, and it is most of what this service is.
We do not advertise an uptime percentage. Uptime depends on your hosting provider, your architecture and your budget, so a number printed on a website means nothing. If your business needs a service level commitment, we agree one in writing for your specific deployment.
Confusion about this is what causes the worst outages. It is agreed at the start, in writing, and adjusted if the arrangement changes.
| Area | Typically Aim IT | Typically your team |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting account | Advise on sizing and provider | Own the account and pay the bill |
| Server configuration | Build, harden and document it | Approve access and change requests |
| Deployment | Set up and run the release process | Decide when a release goes out |
| Backups | Configure, monitor and test restores | Confirm how far back you need to keep data |
| Monitoring | Set alerts and respond to them | Tell us which failures matter most |
| Data | Protect and document it | Own it, always |
